Kitchen/HVAC-Refrigeration Technician

Scope of Position

As a knowledgeable and accommodating staff member, you must anticipate guest needs and provide friendly, personalized service – exceeding expectations will be the department’s hallmark.  You must be respectful of property and guest privacy, knowing that your ability to inspect, repair and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration units along with basic troubleshooting and repair of commercial equipment will have a direct impact on guest and team member satisfaction. 

 

Schedule Requirements

Position requires a five-day a week schedule.  Working weekends, mid or overnight may be necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchens and dish rooms at the hotel and World Trade Center
  • Perform and document repairs for preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance actions with guestrooms
  • Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in the following categories: refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a clean safe and organized work area.
  • Provide the highest quality of service to the guest always.
  • Perform repairs to common area and Guest Room, electrical systems such as lighting systems, television sets, furniture, bathrooms etc., as needed.
  • Perform basic trouble shooting and repair of Central and Guest Room HVAC equipment.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all work orders.
  • Practice safety standards always and be alert to hazardous conditions. Report or correct any hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.

 

Required Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts HVAC, Electrical and Refrigeration codes.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude in tow or more engineering disciplines, excelling in electrical, trouble shooting and system work.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of standard practices in maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical components
  • Able to work as a team as well as in individual settings
  • Availability to work all shifts including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed for coverage.

 

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least one year experience with HVAC-R and appliance repair and refrigeration equipment

 

 

Education:

  • High School diploma, general education degree or international equivalent required.
  • Trade school training preferred.
  • Universal refrigerant EPA Certification Preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

 

Language Skills:

  • Fluency of the English language is required (read, write, speak)
  • Must be able to listen to, read and/or write instructions, memos, short correspondences, and messages.
