As the North America Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting as well as financial statements examination and annual audit. Ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting practices, maintaining and implementing new internal controls when necessary and providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team. Overseeing the company’s property and casualty insurance programs. Supporting the business leaders in client contract negotiations and any other client related matters when requested. You will be responsible for the direct management of the Assistant Controller (General Accounting and Accounts Payable) and the AR Team Manager. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in technical accounting and corporate finance, excellent leadership and organizational skills, team development skills and a keen attention to detail and a focus on exceptional internal and external client service.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff. 
  • Oversees and manages staff and directs the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive feedback and timely performance evaluations for all direct reports.  
  • In partnership with Human Resources, responsible for managing performance, administering disciplinary action and terminations of employees in accordance with company policy.  
  • Promote holism and teamwork within your own staff and across all internal groups.

 

Duties/Responsibilities/Primary Function:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process including global and regional financial consolidations
    • Advise global accounting staff and other teams on the handling of non-routine transactions
    • Develop, implement and maintain financial accounting controls while continuously improving the accounting processes
    • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
    • Provide timely and accurate financial reports and analysis to senior management.
    • Manage the timely issuance of monthly financial package and the annual audited financial statements
    • Maintain the chart of accounts reporting integrity and standards to meet the reporting needs of the business
  • Audit and Compliance:
    • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process and bank examination.
    • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filings
    • Develop, implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic initiatives as requested
    • Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
  • Cash Flow Management:
    • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure operational needs are met.
    • Direct and support AR Leader in the management of AR which covers all client billing, credit assessment and collection activities
    • Implement strategies to optimize working capital and liquidity.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Mentor and develop finance team members.
    • Foster a collaborative, efficient, and high-performing finance team.
    • Maintain a strong relationship with audit firm and key audit partners
  • Business Support:
    • Assess potential business opportunities and support client contract review and negotiation
    • Manage business property and casualty insurance programs including annual renewal and coverage requirements
    • Become a well-versed user of the company’s proprietary operating system
  • Systems and Process Improvement:
    • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
    • Ensure the financial system is up to date and can continue to meet business needs
    • Evaluate and implement financial systems to enhance efficiency
    • Lead ERP improvement process and plan for future ERP upgrade 

Required Skills/Abilities/Profile: 

  • Strong leader with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls
  • Proven management and leadership skills; ability to manage complexity and lead multiple projects simultaneously and get results through others
  • Ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficient in ERP financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Orientation toward action with the drive and leadership ability to implement ideas through to successful completion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation required. 
  • 10 years of progressive experience in corporate finance and accounting.
  • Proven experience as a Controller in a service or SaaS business with annual revenues greater than $250 million
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Experience in setting up foreign subsidiaries and managing multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation.
  • Experience in audit coordination and internal controls.
  • Experience in implementing and working with Cloud based, financial systems
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proven experience in leading financial planning and analysis.

  • Must be able and willing to travel when required
