Job Title: Assistant Teacher Before and/or After School 
Location: School Districts of Avon Grove and Oxford
Pay Class: Part Time
Shifts/Availability: Monday-Friday/7am-8:30am and/or 2:45pm-6pm/Shifts Flexible
Rate: $16.00-$19.00

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. 

 

Position Purpose: The Position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through Youth Development Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The Assistant Teacher creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes all children and families while promoting and maintaining a strong educational program in accordance with the YMCA and licensing and quality requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain supervision of all students.  
  • Provide a safe, clean, and risk-free environment.  
  • Engage with the children to encourage their development and involvement in activities.  
  • Maintain maintenance records, including, but not limited to: accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.  
  • Greet parents and children daily and report or direct parental concerns to the lead teacher or director.  
  • Use positive guidance to support children.  
  • Follow DHS procedures and help others do as well.  
  • Provide care for the needs of children. 
  • Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and 2,500 hours of service (2 years) of childcare experience preferred 
  • 30 credit hours of early childhood, elementary or related human services field education 
  • 15 college credit hours and one year of experience related to the care 
  • 2,500 hours of service  
  • Current CDA certificate  
  • Must keep an up-to-date DHS file   
  • Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and training within 90 days of hire
