Freight Specialist

SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for coordinating freight both in and outbound, ensuring the enhancement of customer service levels through negotiating best value shipping services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coordinate customer returns and other types of special outbound shipments, creating necessary paperwork to ensure the most cost-effective means to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
• Facilitate the return of damaged inventory, reviewing parts returns authorizations to determine claim adjudication status and communicate necessary accounting transactions to the finance team
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction as a result of navigating any freight issues or timely deliveries effectively, in addition to selecting the best value freight carriers
• Communicate any delivery delays to shipping department leadership, customers, and other stakeholders
• Meet with freight providers to review performance issues, negotiate pricing changes, and establish rates and methods for oversized or expedited services
• Maintain all system transactions for fuel surcharges, tariffs, and other modified charges to standard freight rates
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED
• A minimum of 2 year of relevant work experience

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of logistics systems
