As a Melt Technician, your responsibilities include skillfully pouring molten metal into ceramic castings to craft metal components. This role also provides a unique opportunity to delve into the distinctive characteristics of the various metals we work with. As a Rough Clean Technician, your role involves utilizing automated machinery to extract castings from metal molds and skillfully removing metal components from the molds.

Typically, operators in this department begin their journey in Rough Clean before advancing to Melt, marking a progressive and rewarding career path. Join us in shaping the future of metal manufacturing!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The below list reflects the general details necessary to describe the principle and essential functions of the position and shall not be construed as the only duties that may be assigned for the position.

  • Removing ceramic with an automated water blaster
  • Operate a cut-off saw or cold break unit
  • Place castings on a conveyor to load the furnace
  • Safely pour molten metal into the castings
  • Making sure computer and paperwork are set to the job being run
  • Respond to alarms on melt units, furnaces, and dryers for safety and proper functioning
  • Communicate with others in the department regarding the status of work in progress
  • Maintaining the quality of metal to specifications indicated in standard practices
  • Checking components of metal pot by performing a slug test using the spectrometer
  • Adding alloys to the pot to bring a sample to specifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or HSED/GED equivalent preferred
  • Must possess good computer skills and be able to learn new skills as needed
  • Previous experience is not required but is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Demands 

  • Fast-paced environment
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear
  • Use hands to work tools, controls, etc.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

 

Schedule: You decide! Work fewer days per year on our 12-hour schedule, or a standard M-F 8-hour schedule.

    • 6 am- 6 pm OR 6 pm- 6 am on a 2-2-3 rotation 
    • 8-hour Monday-Friday 2nd shift
