Job Summary

            Crystal Mountain Resort is looking for a motivated Spray Technician, dedicated to grow and excel in the golf course and resort industry.  This opportunity will provide a comprehensive career, learning from multiple years of combined agronomic and management experience.  The ideal candidate is someone who is self-motivated, has a positive attitude, communicates well, thinks outside the box and pays attention to detail.  We offer year round employment as a member of both the golf course maintenance and snow removal teams.

            Applicants are encouraged to participate in daily golf course management, cultural practices and processes, with an emphasis on golf course chemical and fertilizer applications.  Candidates will work closely with the Superintendent, both Assistant Superintendents, Equipment Manager, and golf course maintenance team.  Individual(s) willing to lend themselves to this team process will benefit greatly and allow for a first class working experience.

           Seeking individuals should be goal and detail orientated, enthusiastic about working within a team, and demonstrate strong communication capabilities.  With 36 holes of golf and a dedicated learning/practice facility to maintain, the individual will participate in all aspects of golf course maintenance such as, but not limited to:



Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicates with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents in achieving the short- and long-term chemical management program for the property
  • Monitors and identifies disease pressure on all turf related areas
  • Operates and assists in maintaining chemical application equipment
  • Identifies and records detailed information of spray application process
  • Assists in varying forms of daily golf course maintenance as assigned



Job Specifications


  • Basic understanding of selected herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and turf-grass pests and their control measures
  • Ability to read and follow the chemical label while wearing appropriate PPE with each application to protect yourself, others and the environment
  • Mathematics, for the calibration of spray equipment and proper application of products
  • Knowledge of conversions, for liquid and area measurements

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work for extended periods of time outside in all forms of weather
  • Must be willing to bend, stoop, and twist repeatedly throughout the day
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintaining a Michigan spray license with categories 3a (turf) and 5 (aquatics)
  • Valid driver’s license required with ability to clear Motor Vehicle Record Review
