The Packer works under close supervision of the Packaging Supervisor and is responsible for performing most aspects of small pack from work cell set-up through completion of finished assembly.  This position is responsible for machine set-up and troubleshooting basic machine operation.
  • Operate Sealing Machine to seal clamshells on final product packaging and operate Sensor Card Machine to attach security sensors to product cards.
  • Complete final packaging by applying proper labels and/or placing them into boxes.
  • Set-up Sealing Machine by completing die changes and making adjustments and set-up Sensor Machine by adjusting the sensor location on the machine by hand based on the product type and size.
  • Prepare workstation as outlined in the work instructions by lifting bins of product from pallets, carrying them to the work station, and setting them in the appropriate place at the work station.
  • Complete a visual inspection of packaging by following written work instructions before assignment completion to confirm correct product packaging.
  • Report accurate count of time spent and quantity produced for each assignment by scanning badge at the beginning and end of each assignment and completing required paperwork to turn into the Packaging Supervisor.
  • May use a Staple Gun to assemble boxes.
  • May operate Pallet Jack to move leftover products after assignment completion from work station to racking area for the Warehouse Material Handler to put away.
  • Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management.
  • Follow Six Sigma lean manufacturing standards to keep work area clean and safe from hazards.
  • Perform other duties as required within the nature and level of work.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand basic English. Experience setting up and operating RF Sealer Machine and Sensor Machine preferred. Must be able to operate a Pallet Jack and Staple Gun. Ability to demonstrate basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). Ability to work independently and with others. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail. Ability to meet established deadlines.
Physical Demand Requirements
 
Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach above shoulders, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
