The following position is currently available:

POSITION NAME:Day Camp Coordinator

LOCATION: Herman & Kate Kaiser YMCA

POSITION HOURS:Monday-Friday 40 hours weekly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under the guidance of the Youth & Family Director, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for assisting in camp program design, implementation of curriculum and overall safety. This position works independently under general direction and is expected to determine how to accomplish tasks. The Day Camp Coordinator will help with ensuring the quality of traditional camp and specialty camps. You play an integral role in the development of building strong character values in youth and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•High School Diploma; Some College Preferred

•Ability to identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

•Ability to organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week.

•2 years experience working with children.

•Ability to lead others

•Strong communication and inter-personal skills with adults

•Attend training dates May 20th-21st and May 24th-28th

Desired Skills:

•A minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Elementary Education, Physical Education or equivalent training.

•2 years experience working leading others in a Day Camp or Child Care setting.

•Open availability to meet scheduling needs.

Essential Functions:

•Implement and collaborate with Day Camp Counselors to create an organized stimulating schedule for children ages 5-12 years old, in accordance with the YMCA core values.

•Supervise children and staff in order to provide safety to all within ratios.

•Maintain cleanliness of rooms and workspace as to provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

•Visually examine children upon entering program being aware of illnesses, contagious infectious diseases, signs of neglect or abuse.

•Maintain a positive relationship with children, parents, staff, community members and organizations.

•Communicate regularly with supervisor, staff and parents when needed.

•Be a positive role model for children, staff and parents focus on Caring, Honesty, Respect, & Responsibility.

•Provide prompt leadership and assistance in emergency situations.

•Carries out effective behavior management techniques in accordance with the YMCA behavior management policies and procedures.

•Maintain a professional manner and positive attitude at all times with campers and families.

•Follows the YMCA personnel policies, practices, salary administration plan, emergency procedures and risk management procedures.
