POSITION NAME:Day Camp Counselor

LOCATION: Herman & Kate Kaiser YMCA

POSITION HOURS:Monday-Friday (25-40 hours)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:The Day Camp Counselor is responsible for leading engaging activities and promoting fun experiences for children ages 5-12 in a small group setting. They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in their group. Day Camp Counselors actively participate and engage in program areas and assist specialists with the implementation of programming and ensuring that campers are following the rules, guidelines, and principles of the YMCA’s 4 core values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•High School Diploma or equivalent; college preferred.

•Minimum of 6 months’ experience working with youth.

•Ability to identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

•Ability to organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week.

•Strong organizational and communication skills.

•Positive role model and attitude.

•Attend training dates May 20th-21st and May 24th-28th
