Shifts/Availability: Various Shifts: Varies Weekdays & Weekends (Morning/Daytime/Afternoon/Evening)
Rate: $14.00-$20.00
About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: The Jennersville YMCA is looking for enthusiastic, fitness-focused aquatics staff members to instruct aquatics group exercise classes.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct aquatics group exercise classes and aid in a safe, thorough, courteous and professional manner
- Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine Group Exercise best practices:
- Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude
- All scheduled classes will be held and coverage secured as needed
- Classes will start and end on time
- Greet participants and learn their names
- Identify your participants’ limitations and adapt your classes and/or provide modifications accordingly
- Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class
- Promote a healthy lifestyle
- Attend advanced training workshops that are offered throughout the year by YMCA of Greater Brandywine or other YMCAs
- Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Less than three years of teaching group exercise class(es) required
- At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required
- Possess and maintain at least one Group Exercise certification from a nationally accredited organization
- Obtain and maintain foundations of Group Exercise (or Group Exercise Instructor) or a nationally recognized Group Exercise Certification within six months of hire date
Certified as an aquatic exercise instructor
