Branch: Upper Main Line YMCA

Location: Berwyn, PA

Shifts/Availability: Full Time - Exempt, Tuesday-Saturday
Salary:  $42,000 - $45,000

 

About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: 

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. The Upper Main Line YMCA is seeking a Swim Lessons Director who can develop, organize and implement high quality YMCA aquatic programs.   

 

Position Summary: 

Under the direction of the Advanced Aquatics Director, the Swim Lesson Director is responsible for managing all group swim lessons and private lessons, related staffing, schedules, and budget.  These programs include, but are not limited to, preschool, youth, adult, adapted swim, private swim instruction and our Safety Around Water programming. 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with summer camp programming and work in relation with the competitive swim program.  
  • Ensure the aquatics experience is safe, fun and enjoyable for members and program participants.  
  • Hire, train, schedule and supervise Swim Instructors.  
  • Work hands-on with aquatic programs when needed and fulfill general building director duties as assigned.  
  • Expected to deliver 20 hours each week of direct swim lesson instruction.

 

Education/Experience Requirements: 

     Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent preferred.   

  • Two years or more of YMCA experience or related experience within another organization may be considered.   

  • Proven skills in staff leadership and supervision, safety and risk management, budget management and relationship building are needed to be successful in this position.  

  • Seeking a team player who is flexible with work schedule as evening and weekend coverage will be required.   

  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
