POSITION SUMMARY:


The Site Coordinator is responsible for all on-site operations of the before and after school or Y academic center, ensuring children are actively engaged in safe and enriching activities as well as communicating with key stakeholders, which include school administration, staff, and parents. This positions is also responsible for implementing monthly before and after school enrichment curriculum. This position provides supervision support to all site-based associates: youth specialists, senior youth specialists and program volunteers. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 




  • With support from a Site Manager or Program Director, provide oversight to the day-to-day operations of the before and after school enrichment program




  • Meet the needs of children, families, and the community within the scope and goals of the Y's Family Services philosophy and the guidelines of the OCC through operating an effective and quality before and after school enrichment program




  • Ensure adequate coverage for the site at all times




  • Responsible for all aspects of programming including safety, risk management, supervision of children and staff, meeting quality guidelines, curriculum standards, OCC regulations, DHMH regulations, and any other standard, policy, or procedure as deemed necessary by the Y in Central Maryland




  • Lead meetings with associates as necessary




  • Attend team meetings and monthly curriculum meetings




  • Train and supervise site staff on OCC regulations, Y policies and procedures, and other standards as set forth by the Y in Central Maryland  




  • Contribute feedback and participate as directed in associate performance reviews and performance improvement plan meetings




  • Use the monthly curriculum materials for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activates that are consistent with approved curriculum




  • Participate in back-to-school nights, parent committees and Y special events as needed 




  • Communicate regularly (at least monthly), orally, and in writing with school principal and participate in faculty and committee meetings when school allows




  • Accurately document attendance and emergency information on each child 




  • Maintain up-to-date records on all enrolled children




  • Satisfy required training expectations; participate in opportunities for professional growth such as workshops, conferences, college, and graduate courses as required by the Program Director; complete continuing education units as specified by the OCC on an annual basis

QUALIFICAIONS:


EDUCATION




  • Minimum high school diploma/certificate of high school equivalence or two completed courses for credit from a college or university; associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in education preferred




  • 3 semester hours/45 hours in School Age Curriculum or Preschool or 1800 hours of experience with school age children




  • 3 semester hours/45 clock hours in Growth and Development




  • 9 clock hours in Communication training or any college coursework




EXPERIENCE




  • At least 1 year of experience working under supervision in a school age environment or 800 hours of experience working in a licensed childcare center primarily with school age children




  • At least 21 years of age (Office of Child Care requirement)




  • Approved as a teacher by the State Department of Education for Kindergarten or grades 1-8




SKILLS




  • Ability to provide direction to staff and children




  • Ability to implement program curriculum effectively






  • Ability to enforce all rules and to make effective decisions to ensure the safety and security of program participants




  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community




  • Ability to make sound judgments for the betterment and quality of the program




  • Ability to display tolerance, patience and level-headedness




  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding participant, staff and association records






  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner to children, parents, school administration, and other staff members.  Ability to understand and implement emergency evacuation procedures and protocols during planned drills and unexpected emergency situations




  • Ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses




  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, internet use and email systems




WORKING CONDITIONS:




  • Stand in one area for extended periods of time.




  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.




  • Ascend and descend steps.




  • Occasional outdoor activities.




  • Lift and move up to 50lbs.




ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:




  • Physically able to successfully complete required job functions, including use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move/lift up to 50 pounds, enter all Y environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance/mechanical areas, fitness areas, pool and pool space, camping areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas).




Accountability:


Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties. 


An offer of employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results to meet minimum requirements of the position.  The requirements may include background check, drug test, driver’s license record, CPS, and/or criminal background check.


Additional driver’s license check, CPS, criminal background check, alcohol, and/or drug testing may be required to be processed in the future in order to meet and/or maintain the requirements of this position.
