Group Marketing Manager - Greater Houston

Winstead is seeking a Group Marketing Manager to manage and lead the marketing and business development efforts of designated firm industry and practice groups and the Houston and The Woodlands offices. 

This is a position that requires a high level of proficiency in both strategic planning and hands-on tactical execution. This individual will be an important member of our business development and marketing team and will work closely with firm leaders, attorneys and department colleagues to expand the firm’s client base and profile.  

Position Overview and Essential Functions 

  • Develop and lead marketing and business development strategies and activities with designated firmwide industry and practice groups, and in the Greater Houston market, that drive new business opportunities, develop and enhance relationships and increases market profile
  • Identify and build strategic relationships with high-profile, market-moving organizations and leverage them to drive branding and business development initiatives on behalf of firmwide industry and practice groups, the Greater Houston offices and individual attorneys
  • Develop and manage the Greater Houston, designated firmwide practice and industry groups, and attorney strategic marketing plans, marketing budgets, sponsorships and events that drive revenue growth and brand awareness 
  • Coach attorneys on successful business development techniques
  • Identify and manage internal and external firmwide industry, practice group and Greater Houston events, sponsorships and other business development and marketing activities designed to promote the firm and foster business growth 
  • Manage, and provide regular updates to the designated firmwide practice, industry group and Greater Houston web site pages and the respective attorney biograoghy pages. 
  • Provide ongoing business development research and analysis for assigned firmwide industry and practice groups and the Greater Houston market 
  • Assist with developing RFP responses and proactive client proposals
  • Work with the firm’s communications team to identify promotion, PR and social media opportunities that support the profile of the assigned firmwide industry and practice groups and the firm’s presence in the Greater Houston market
  • Assist with additional firmwide marketing projects as required

Specific Requirements

  • Experience working with partners and senior executives in a fast-paced, client focused environment
  • Strategic, diplomatic, flexible and organized with the ability to prioritize workloads, work independently, manage multiple demands, and complete tasks under time pressure 
  • Understand the legal, or similar professional service environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Process-oriented with the ability to gather and synthesize information
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent written and verbal skills with strong proofreading and grammar skills
  • Understand the importance of partnering with office leadership, practice and industry leaders, members of the business development team, stakeholders, vendors and internal clients in an open, collaborative, proactive and constructive manner 
  • Ability to work off-hours and travel, as required, to firm offices
  • Excellent presentation and business acumen
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of CRM systems is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and Military Service a plus
  • Five to seven years of business development and marketing experience in law firms, professional services, investment management, private equity or venture capital firms
