Job Summary: The Financial Accounting Manager provides overall direction and leadership to the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, payables and collections.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of direct reports 

Recruits and interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job

Provides orientation and training for new employees

Delegates tasks effectively, manages workload distribution and provides assistance as needed

Completes performance evaluations that are timely and constructive

Communicates expectations, coaches for improvement, distributes discipline as necessary according to policy

 

Essential Job Functions:

Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable department and processes

Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment

Streamline processes with a focus on standard operating procedures

Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiencies and recommend enhancements of work flows to the Corporate Controller

Daily balancing of our line of credit account

Oversee company credit card program

Assists with the approval and processing of ACH/WIRE transactions

Reconcile operating account bank statements and non-subscriber work comp account

Reconcile inventory and create spreadsheet for general ledger entries

Preparation of sales tax returns

Ensure miscellaneous invoices are paid in a timely manner

Assist with month-end/year-end close process, and compiling information needed for our yearly audit

Additional duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller

 

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 

Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug   and alcohol program

Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting processes

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

Knowledge of principles and practices of organizing, planning, records management, and budgetary processes

Advanced proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel, 10 key, and Google Workspace

Results oriented with superior technical, analytical and problem solving skills

 

Preferred: 

Proven work experience as an Accountant and/or Finance professional

5+ years of experience in a management or supervisory role

Ability to work in fast paced environment and meet deadlines

 

Salary:  This is a salaried position with a range of $65,000 to $75,000 depending

on qualifications and experience.

Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

 

Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed primarily in an office environment and occasionally, in a commercial motor vehicle terminal operations environment thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office/CMV equipment.  Exposure to various climate conditions, fumes, dust, odors, oil/grease, and gasses.
