Energetics is seeking a Chemical Industry Expert to work with our team in supporting the Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office’s (AMO). Upcoming Chemicals Program activities will include strategic planning, analysis, technical advising, and research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) program and Consortia support. As part of your work, you’ll gain innovative knowledge and contribute towards technologies, policies, and R&D trends in industrial energy. Energetics is a subsidiary of VSE Corporation. The Chemical Industry Technical Consultant will work in a highly collaborative atmosphere, interacting directly with government program managers. This position can be based in one of our existing offices, or working remotely in the U.S. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, write and review reports, talking points, articles, briefings, and presentations on subjects related to the Chemicals industry.
  • Participate, network, and help coordinate stakeholder engagements, workshops, and discussion with experts in fields such as sustainable chemistry and chemicals manufacturing.
  • Advise on industry-relevant demonstration opportunities for decarbonization technologies and processes within the chemicals and petroleum refining sectors.
  • Conduct technical merit review and provide technical support and documentation for RD&D and Consortia program management activities.
  • Work closely with program managers and co-workers in a fast-paced collaborative team environment (diligent and responsive contributor).
  • Provide connectivity to other research areas and offices through cross-cutting activities.
  • Support analysis related to chemical sector supply chains and related technical areas and markets.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience (3 years with Masters or Ph.D. degree). Higher education science and engineering degrees are a plus, but not required. Candidates with greater years of experience are encouraged to apply also.
  • Chemical industry experience (experience in a research or industrial/manufacturing setting required, varied experience welcome)
  • Interest in manufacturing energy efficiency, decarbonization, and/or clean energy technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong technical writing skills and an ability to tailor written and verbal communications for technical and non-technical audiences.
