The Life Enrichment Associate position will be asked to assist the Life Enrichment Director to plan, coordinate, and direct resident activity programs utilizing resources of the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Life Enrichment Director to Plan, Coordinate and Direct Resident Activities:
Lead varied life enrichment activities and outings
Assist in planning programs for group and individual activities based on residents individualized needs as identified in residents’ service plan and activity preferences to include a balance of recreational activities including physical, social, sensory, religious, diversities, intellectual, and creative arts and crafts
Assist and participate in resident activity outings such as trips to stores, shopping centers, restaurants, museums, sporting events and day trips
Ensure group activities are scheduled and on time, to provide for maximum involvement by interested residents
Know the unique interests of residents and encourage/assist them to participate in activities
Assist in coordinating scheduled activities with other departments to include special events
Assist in maintaining adequate activity supplies and equipment to meet needs and interests of residents, ensure materials are available to residents
Assist with daily, weekly and monthly communication avenues indicating current and future activities, events, holiday themes, or picture review of past activities
Assist residents with mail, and address and post outgoing mail upon the resident’s request
Assist with transportation of residents within the community from one area to another area where activities may occur
Participate in the collection of life history and interest of the residents
Orient volunteers in the community as needed or requested
Document resident participation of activities as needed or requested
Participate in in-service programs of the community
Recognize abnormal signs and symptoms which may signify a physical change in resident’s condition that could require care intervention. Report concerns to Director of Wellness immediately
May be required to drive company vehicle as needed or requested

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of special needs and limitations of elderly;
Methods and techniques used to include residents and involve them in activities;
Alert to attitudes and feelings of residents;
Knowledge of an familiarity with handcrafts, skills, games, other activities, and vendors of supplies and equipment;
Familiarity with the community, social agencies, contacts with clubs and groups, and knowledge of sources of materials and local services;
Understanding and self-discipline to relate sensitively to residents’ needs and feelings.
EDUCATION:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED
Adult Basic First Aid and CPR certification if required to drive company vehicle
EXPERIENCE
Minimum six months experience working in a senior living community or organization with activity based programming preferred
