The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Senior Major Gifts Manager for the Metro Atlanta Area Command, located in Norcross, GA.
 
 

Job Summary

Plans, develops, coordinates, and evaluates an aggressive Resource Development Program by supervising, monitoring, and participating in the work of generating major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations within the Area Command; ensures successful progress is made toward achieving/surpassing annual fund-raising goals which are established annually by the Area Commander; supervises and assist Area Command Resource Development Directors by providing technical assistance and reviewing program proposals for compliance with The Salvation Army policies, procedures, and mission; confers with Divisional Headquarters’ administration through Divisional Development Directors. Develops and nurtures a Donor Portfolio and Moves Management Plan and maintains accurate and timely donor records and reports.
 
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Modern principles and practices of individual, corporate, and foundation fund-raising and communication techniques; Knowledge of local, state and federal laws governing fund-raising and taxation; Knowledge of the principles and practices of mathematics, accounting, finance, and budget administration; Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations; Knowledge of the principles and practice3s of the supervision of both technical and administrative support personnel; Knowledge of donor records management and administration as well as data and trend analysis; Knowledge of accepted principles and practices of personnel supervision; Ability to research, solicit, and secure funds from individual, corporate, and foundation relationships in accordance with established Salvation Army practices and policy, established personal goals and in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policies as well as local, state, and federal legislation; Ability to train, supervise and evaluate fundraising staff in a manner to successfully achieve fundraising goals while achieving own personal fundraising goals; Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the development team at the local, divisional, and territorial levels of the organization; Ability to ensure donor records are maintained in an accurate and timely manner; Ability to maintain the security and accountability of donated assets; Ability to interpret, apply, and maintain compliance with The Salvation Army Resource Development Department Manual; Ability to perform both short and long-term planning to ensure ability to meet goals and objectives.
 
 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and Five (5) years’ experience performing progressively responsible fundraising work in a charitable organization; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Manual dexterity. Ability to sit, walk, and stand on a frequent change basis in order to perform the duties of this position; Ability to lift objects weighing between 25-20 lbs.; Ability to travel throughout the Division on a regular basis to work with Regional Resource Development Directors, their donors/prospects, and professionals of their communities. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
