The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Investment Assistant & Project Manger for the Southern Territory Headquarters, located in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Job Summary

The primary purpose is to serve as the project manager and coordination to the Director-Office of Investments. Responsibilities include providing project management by managing and coordinating high-level complex investment projects, researching and compiling information, providing Office of Investments operations support, designing and composing concepts/ideas for annual reports and printing materials for annual meetings, coordinating departmental project activities, and events.  Serves as the face of the Office of Investments; represents the Office of Investments in a professional manner to senior professionals outside of The Salvation Army.  Assists the Director – Office of Investments by researching policy, investment guidelines, past directives or current practices in order to respond to policy questions or requests for direction from the divisions, other departments at Territorial Headquarters, or outside entities. Responds to inquiries regarding department operations in the absence of the Director – Office of Investments, ensuring the continuity of established office procedures. Oversees and coordinates day-to-day activities and functions of the Director-Office of Investments, utilizing a high degree of independent judgment and initiative. Serves as the information resource for the Department and provides support in a timely manner.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department's administration.  Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.  Knowledge of general investment, financial and accounting administration.  Knowledge of accepted practices and techniques involved in budget and report preparation, recordkeeping, public relations, interpersonal relations, and business communications both oral and written.  Ability to learn the broad scope of department operations and services in order to serve as an information resource and to provide assistance in a timely and effective manner.  Ability to learn and use all of the computer software assigned by the department.  Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.  Ability to gather, compile, and assemble information into a final product for letters, records, reports, etc.  Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.  Ability to determine the most effective and efficient method to accomplish work objectives and goals and to work under limited supervision.  Ability to prepare spreadsheets and to maintain computer databases.  Ability to maintain an efficient and organized filing system to ensure that items can be retrieved in a timely manner.  Ability to build and maintain effective and professional relationships with employees at Territorial Headquarters and throughout the Southern Territory.  Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.  Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulness within and among office staff.  Ability to plan and assign work in a manner to ensure compliance with deadlines.  Ability to maintain the confidential nature of the department.  Ability to meet attendance requirements.  Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.  Ability to plan work priorities, evaluate work performances and provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work.  Ability to provide effective leadership to subordinates, maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinate staff.  Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for extended periods of time when reading and preparing reports or resolving operational problems.  Ability to make sound decisions and resolve operational problems in the absence of an immediate supervisor.  Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.  Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.  Ability to determine the most effective and efficient method to accomplish work objectives and goals and to work under limited supervision.

 

Education and Experience

Two years course-work from an accredited college or university,  and  Three years progressively responsible experience working in a general office with at least one year performing work related to the Office of Investments, project management experience preferred  or  Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Licenses & Certifications:  Valid Driver’s License

   

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions   

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.  Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
