Resident Monitor (PT)
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for an Resident Monitor for the Tampa Area Command , located in Tampa, FL .
Accepts and processes residents into HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) in order for them to stay in lodge/shelter overnight; monitors the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to behavioral expectations; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of and ability to speak, read, and write in English at a level that allows an ability to communicate successfully with clients, to determine, evaluate, and address their needs, to complete desired paperwork, and to understand and follow through on verbal commands from supervisors. Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of basic recordkeeping practices and procedures. Knowledge of general computer software and hardware. Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures. Ability to do data entry work efficiently and accurately. Ability to become and remain certified to drive Salvation Army vehicles per Salvation Army insurance requirements.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year experience performing security or social service work preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action. Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects (30-40 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Works is performed in a emergency shelter where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires performance of duties in social services environments where exposure to communicable and infectious diseases are possible.

This is a part-time position working up to 29 hours a week. The shift we are looking to fill currently is 12:00 am to 8:00 am. Work week will include weekends.
