Program Director/ SSVF

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Program Director/SSVF for the Kentucky - Tennessee Territory, located in Paducah, KY.

 Job Summary

The Program Director plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors the day-to-day operations of a Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program in the Western Kentucky region, under the direction of the Divisional Director of Social Services; provides supervision for Case Management Specialists, Outreach & Housing Navigation Specialist, and the Shallow Subsidy Specialist. Manages and monitors assigned caseloads of veteran clients seeking assistance with navigating the healthcare system, develops health care plan/goals and evaluates client’s progress serves as an advocate for client in order to acquire health care services, provide education on wellness related topic.; Ensures program is administered with established policies and procedures and budget constraints;  Builds and maintains effective working relationships with Veteran Community Medical Centers, other healthcare providers, and community agencies in order to make appropriate client referrals. Travel is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service case management. Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community. Knowledge of Veteran programs and resources. Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices. Ability to develop program plans and goals based on client's needs. Ability to evaluate the client's progress toward program goals. Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors. Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and client records. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines. Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and medical agencies

Education and Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, or a related social services field, And Two years’ experience performing progressively responsible social service case management work Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid Driver’s License

       
 Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. . Work requires the ability to lift and or carry and/push/pull light (less than25lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting.  changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to think clearly and quickly in order to maintain control of client caseload. Ability to work on multiple cases effectively and efficiently at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.
