The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Sales & Event Coordinator in the Hampton Roads Area Command Kroc Center.


POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Sales Manager, the Sales and Event Coordinator manages all venue and event sales; promotes events, sources venues, negotiates contracts, recommends and engages food services and catering, acquires supporting technology, and coordinates development of materials to execute a quality event. This individual oversees and supervises staff and the coordination of all facility and Event Service functions to ensure successful events. This person is the client representative to the Kroc Center staff.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

And

Three to five years of experience in sales.

Or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.


License/Certification:

Valid Driver’s License


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of The Salvation Army and its many programs.

Ability to organize and pay attention to details.

Ability to plan, coordinate and evaluate events and projects.

Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.

Ability to prepare effective printed materials for educational and promotional purposes.

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Ability to administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.

Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports in an accurate and complete manner.

Ability to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to individuals and groups.

Ability to plan, schedule, and conduct orientations, meetings, trainings, and public presentations.

Ability to effectively utilize community resources.

Ability to promote awareness and support for Event Services and Member Relations Department.

Ability to be a team player, working collaboratively and proactively in a fast-paced setting.


Mental and Physical Abilities

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to speak before large groups in person.

Duties are usually performed seated.Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Work involves driving a vehicle to special events where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with long-distance trips or heavy traffic.
