Executive Assistant to the General Secretary and Divisional Director of Development
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Executive Assistant to GS and Divisional Development Director located in Charlotte, NC.
Provides comprehensive support with critical thinking, problems solving, and confidentiality to the General Secretary. Performs the day-to-day operational responsibilities for the General Secretary’s Office and the Divisional Director of Development; ensures the accomplishment of the various office tasks in the most efficient and effective manner possible; cross-trains and supports all office assignments concentrating on targeted deadlines and quality standards; prepares various routine and special reports to keep the appropriate persons abreast of progress; ensures office operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures; maintains confidentiality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of team building, supervision, personnel, business and office management. Knowledge of pastoral care routines/protocols and biblical knowledge. Knowledge and ability to use desktop publishing software and Microsoft Office at an intermediate to advanced level. Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete, and timely manner. Ability to read and interpret policies/procedures, legal documents, and requirements to ensure compliance. Ability to learn the levels of hierarchy and Officer’s ranks within The Salvation Army. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently. Ability to establish goals and objectives and monitor their effective implementation. Ability to apply discretion and independent judgment and exercise confidentiality. Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations in an accurate manner. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete and timely manner. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Salvation Army officers, employees, and the community. Ability to type 60 wpm with less than 3 errors.
Education and Experience
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or related field, and Three years with progressive responsibility/experience performing administrative work in a general office environment, with two years experience similar work for executive leadership, or Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid State Driver’s license.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language effectively. Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints. Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
