Community Center Director
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Community Center Director for the Nashville Area Command, located in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Community Center Director plans, coordinates, supervises, and directs all activities and programs at the community center. Plans and develops new programs that meet the needs of the community and ensures the safety of the children that utilize the services of the center. Creates programs that cater to all age groups. Collaborate with Corps Officer and Program Directors of Pathway of Hope (POH), Center of Hope (COH), LIFNAV.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of child development. Knowledge of age-appropriate programs for children. Knowledge of the administration of non-profit organizations. Knowledge of motivation and leadership techniques. Ability to manage and supervise the work performed by subordinate staff and volunteers. Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with people of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to manage multiple, concurrent activities. Ability to operate general office equipment. Ability to exercise assertiveness. Ability to plan and organize work.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, and three years professional experience in social and recreational services, teaching, and/or the supervision of children, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Work is performed in a unique, multi-service, mall model environment. A fully equipped office, gymnasium and access to Salvation Army vehicles for business use. Some activities may require working outside with varying temperatures. This is a smoke-free facility.
