The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Program Coordinator (Life Recovery) for the Center of Hope located in Sarasota, Florida.

Job Summary

Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors the day-to-day operations of the Life Recovery Program; Manages all aspects of Life Recovery activities in respect to managing client culture and accommodations; Acts as point person in absence of Life Recovery Program Manager; Coordinates and monitors client activities and ensures work is in compliance with established policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations; Provides an advanced level of direct services for all Life Recovery residents of the Voluntary Interim Placement-Enhanced Recovery (VIP-ER) Program and Community Recovery Program (CRP). This role is to model leadership to the Life Recovery Residents in the duties of maintaining order, rule compliance, and ensuring a safe and drug-free environment while working collaboratively with other staff to provide quality services and maintaining a therapeutic community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of crisis intervention.

Knowledge of family dynamics and issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Knowledge of social service resources and agencies in the community.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of facility management.

Knowledge of effective communication and motivation practices.

Knowledge of general office practices and principles.

Ability to prepare and process records and statistics in an accurate and complete manner.

Ability to research and prepare grants.

Ability to supervise work of Social Services as well as ability to train the same in the proper methods and procedures for performing work.

Ability to establish productive relationships with potential employers and other relevant service providers in the community.

Ability to develop program plans and goals based on client's needs.

Ability to evaluate the client's progress toward program goals.

Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.

Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information.

Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete case notes and client records.

Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.

Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and community agencies.

Ability to motivate, lead supervise, and evaluate subordinate personnel.

Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during state of crisis.

Ability to evaluate the client's progress toward program goals.

Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors.

Ability to interview clients and to obtain pertinent information.

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.

Ability to build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with clients and community agencies.

Ability to interview clients in order to evaluate and serve their needs.

Ability to deal calmly and respectfully with people in crisis and emotionally challenging situations.

Ability to determine client eligibility for program assistance based on specific program guidelines and restrictions.

Ability to interpret social service program regulations in a clear, accurate, and friendly manner to clients.

Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with members of minority, various cultural, and lower socio-economic groups.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing with employees, clients, the public or other agencies using a telephone, email, in a face-to-face, one-to-one setting, and in a group setting.

Ability to comprehend and make inferences from materials written in the English language.

Ability to produce documents written with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.

Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in a on-the-job training setting.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, or a related social services field,


And

Two years progressively responsible experience performing social services work with at least one year in a supervisory capacity,

Or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
