JOB TITLE:               ASSISTANT TO MARKETING AND DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Assists the Marketing and Development Coordinator with coordinating volunteers and compiling statistics. Assists the Marketing and Development Coordinator with the planning, promotion, organization and printing materials for annual community events held by The Salvation Army, including, The Champion of Hope Dinner, Prom & Beyond Fashion Show, Back-to-School Event, Golf Tournament, Christmas programs etc. Assists with the coordination and promotion of Angel Tree, Stuff a Stocking, Give a Kid a Coat, Triad Holiday Food Drive, Gift for Kids and other Christmas programs. Writes and sends prayer cards to donors with prayer requests.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with all promotional community fairs, events, and department programs/activities

  • Compile monthly statistical information

  • Create and Update event spreadsheets and budgets with statistical, financial and non-financial information
  • Help maintain posting online content to The Salvation Army website, social media accounts and newsletters

  • Distribute marketing literature (brochures, flyers, etc.) 

  • Volunteer Coordination

  • Complete daily tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department’s activities (prayer requests, google reviews, thank you notes, order pickups, etc.)

  • Support the marketing coordinator with planning, implementing, organizing and monitoring annual marketing campaigns and events (Christmas Programs, Food Drives, Golf Tournament, Champion of Hope etc.)

 

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Is a hands-on worker in the planning, promotion, organizing and fulfilling of annual community events held by The Salvation Army. This includes picking up event essentials, making phone calls, sending and receiving emails to and from members of The Salvation Army Advisory Organizations, community partners and volunteers

 

Contacts and coordinates with people who would like to volunteer for such things as special projects around the command and during Christmas, such as bell ringers and volunteers for the Angel Tree program. This includes making phone calls and sending and receiving emails.

 

Participates in staff meetings and Advisory Organizations meetings as requested by the Corps Officer.

 

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 2 years’ experience performing public relations and fund-raising functions through all forms of media with strong communication and organizational skills.

 

or

 

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

 

None.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy.

 

Knowledge of Christian theology and The Salvation Army doctrine.

 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and media relations.

 

Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army

 

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
