Afterschool Program Aid/Driver

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Part Time After School Program Aide for the Venice Corps Community Center located in Venice, Florida.

 

 

Job Summary

Plans, and provides activities and child care services for school-age children participating in the After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of TSA’s property.

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 1pm to 6pm

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.

Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum.

Ability to plan, develop and implement effective childhood programs and activities.

Knowledge of acceptable driving techniques and practices.

Knowledge of safety precautions associated with transporting passengers

Ability to drive a passenger vehicle ensuring the safety of passengers and protection of the vehicle.

Ability to read and follow maps.

Ability to gauge time needed to arrive at destination.

 

 

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED, 45 hour required DCF School Age Training

And

Two years experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school,

Or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.

Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

Work requires driving a vehicle is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
