Job Summary

Supervises, plans, develops, coordinates, prioritizes, and monitors the day-to-day operations of the Center's business activities relating to truck operations, warehouse operations, rag operations, auctions and minimizing overall labor costs. The General Supervisor is to ensure that the above operations comply with federal and state statutes and are performed within The Salvation Army's policies and procedures.

Supervises the work of subordinate production supervisory personnel; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures in accordance with established policies; monitors work in progress and evaluates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides salary, selection, training, disciplinary, and hiring/firing recommendations.

Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the operation, maintenance, and production of the warehouse; ensures that all donor calls are responded to in a courteous and timely manner; ensures the accountability and security of all donated items; ensures that all donated items are properly sorted identifying appropriate merchandise for pricing for the store, identifying appropriate merchandise for auctions, and maintenance to be discarded.

Supervises, monitors, and evaluates the dispatch office and truck drivers making changes as necessary to improve their efficiency and effectiveness; ensures that all donor calls are responded to in a courteous and timely manner.

Conducts regular inspections of all Stores to ensure that the Stores are properly stocked, maintained, staffed and operating within established policies and procedures.

Oversees the pricing, inventory and marking of merchandise of all stores; oversees the operating hours of all stores, deposit pick up procedures, personnel vacation schedules and compliance with established policies and procedures; oversees and conducts sales staff meetings with employees and store managers.

Provides the Administrator with regular advice and counsel, as to areas of improvement, areas of success, personnel issues, legal issues, policy and/or procedural issues and any other issues that relate to the effective and efficient operation of the Adult Rehabilitation Center.

Supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the delivery of rehabilitative services to clients; monitors clients progress and work cooperatively with the rehabilitative staff to ensure client goals are achieved; aids staff to resolve operational problems; provides direct counseling assistance to clients as needed.

Assigns a work therapy assignment to each beneficiary according to his skills and according to the vacancies in the Center; initials assignment and subsequent reassignment of residents of Center work assignments and ensures that production and rehabilitation needs are adequately met.

Interviews new residents entering or re-entering the program; supervises, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the assignment of clients to work-therapy positions; ensures that client skills and ability match requirements of the position.

Supervises and monitors client progress and day-to-day activity to ensure compliance with program rules and regulations; determines and applies appropriate disciplinary actions in compliance with established policies and procedures.

Assists in coordinating, planning, and conducting the spiritual and religious programs of the Adult Rehabilitation Center and the spiritual aspects of the program that permeates throughout all activities of the Center.

Acts with full authority of the Center Administrator in his absence in case of emergencies involving the health or safety of Center employees or residents or the security of the Center and its environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions, policies, procedures and/or guidelines in various manuals. Ability to apply attention to detail and to perform assigned -Work with minimal errors and within established time constraints. Knowledge of the principles and practices of general supervision and management of personnel.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field, and five years progressively responsible experience performing accounting and other business activities or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, computer and adding machine. Ability to successfully interact with a variety of personalities, to include, but not limited to, subordinates, peers, management staff, customers, and beneficiaries.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and carrying light objects (usually less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
