Location: The Salvation Army of Cartersville, GA

Rate of Pay: $10.68 per hour (Part-Time)

About this opportunity

This position is receives, sorts, and stores donated items in the Warehouse storage area; receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to the category and condition; determines the acceptability of donated items based on established standards; Responds to request from the Corps Administration for furnishing, equipment and supplies; serve as lead worker to beneficiaries and community service workers and volunteers; may assist in preparing receipts for items received from vendors and donors; serves as relief Truck Driver as needed; drives to corporations to pick-up donated items; and performs other duties as assigned. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Selects items suitable for storage and distributes same to appropriate storage area in accordance with established procedures;
• Assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area, 
• Tags items with dates in accordance with established procedures; 
• Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly and assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area;
• Prepares non-suitable items for discard; 
• Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing and storage; 
• Prepares non-suitable items for discard and drives to Rome to drop off "rag-outs", 
• Handles any pick-ups, and Receives, inspects and sorts donated items according to the category and condition;
• Lifts and carries items to the appropriate destination for further processing and storage; maintains inventory of items in storage;
• Reports any known entries after hours or missing items; 
• Discourages unauthorized visitors in the warehouse area; notifies supervisor immediately of the same; 
• Maintains warehouse and loading dock area in a neat and orderly manner; cleans floors, tables and work areas; 
• Serve as lead worker in the warehouse and support, instruct, and train volunteers and community service workers as needed. 
• Assists with other store related functions as deemed necessary by the Family Store Manager.

Hand Truck; Ticket-Gun; Clothes Racks & Hangers; Cleaning Products

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to sort items in accordance with established categories;
Ability to determine the condition of food items in accordance with established standards;
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.                                                                        Ability to drive a large non-commercial truck

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
No formal education or experience required.

Certifications
Valid State Driver’s License

Physical Requirements
Ability to meet attendance requirements;
Ability to communicate the English language;
Ability to physically lift and carry and /or push/pull light objects (less than 25 lbs.).
Moderate mobility; duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
