JOB SUMMARY:

 

Plans, and provides activities and childcare are services for school-age children participating in the After School and/or Summer Day Camp Programs; plans, develops, and facilitates recreational activities and play time; prepares and maintains program records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Club’s property. Assists the Summer Day Camp Director with day-to-day operations.

Provides leadership and constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner.

 

Assists the Director to ensure s activities for school age children; ensures that activities are age appropriate, stimulating, fun and safe for the children.

 

Determines appropriate supplies and materials for recreational activities; ensures the children's safety in utilizing the same.

 

Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside learning activities.

 

Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children mealtime encouraging conversation.

 

Organizes and supervises recreational staff; observes, monitors, and supervises children on the playground when needed.

 

Prepares schedules, parent notices, newsletters and other instruments necessary for the smooth operation of all programs.

 

 

Assures all program rooms are decorated with up-to-date themes and seasons; assists in preparing and maintaining attractive, entertaining, and educational bulletin boards.

 

Collects and receipts all money paid by program participants; ensures the security and accountability of all money collected. Follows up with the bookkeeper to verify accuracy.

 

Reviews and maintains the program materials in an orderly fashion; maintains accountability for materials necessary for programs.

 

Reviews and maintains up-to-date records and required reports (attendance, development progress, discipline reports, etc.).

 

Reports all accidents to the Director in an accurate and timely manner.

 

Builds and maintains effective and positive relationships with parents, community leaders and host organizations and agencies; ensures all obligations are fulfilled in meeting the requirements of any written or verbal agreements.

 

Assists in facilitating and supervising summer, spring and winter Day Camp Programs.

 

Assists in facilitating and supervising the Home School Physical Education Program.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assists in the Registration and orientation of participants and parents.

 

Informs parents of children's progress and specific incidents.

.

 

Assists with transporting children whenever needed; ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.

 

Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions.

 

Assists in preparing and providing field trips for children.

 

Performs other related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

High School Diploma or GED, 45 hour required DCF School Age Training

And

 

Two years' experience teaching child development programs in a church or pre-school,

 

Or

 

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

 

Valid state driver's license

C.P.R. and First Aid Certification

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Child Behavior and Development.

 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development.

 

Knowledge of the principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children.

 

Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum.

 

Ability to plan, develop and implement effective childhood programs and activities.

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

 

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

 

Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.

 

Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
