Janitor - Part Time, Evenings

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for Janitor - Part time for the Central Oklahoma Area Command Citadel, located in Oklahoma City, OK.

Job Summary

Cleans and maintains the building daily to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the same and keeps inventory of supplies, alerting Corps Officers of inventory needs. This position is part time and work would be performed after 6 pm daily.

Janitorial Duties (90%)

Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks, toilets, showers, mirrors, empties trashes, mops floors, and replenishes supplies.

Cleans and sanitizes kitchen; cleans sinks, tables, counters, empties trashes, mops floors, and replenishes supplies.

Sweeps, vacuums, mops floors in front entrance, sanctuary, classrooms, offices, and dining area.

Dusts woodwork throughout the building including, including, but not limited to, front entry, sanctuary, classrooms

Stocks cleaning supplies.

Empties trash cans daily.

Assists in setting up meeting rooms; sets up tables and chairs.

Assists in monitoring light fixtures to ensure all light bulbs are in working order, reports maintenance needs to Corp Officers                                         

Other Responsibilities (10%)

Performs other related work as requested by the Corps Officer.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have the ability to follow instructions.

Must have the ability to perform the cleaning tasks with consistent efficiency.

Must have the ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read and write and communicate the English Language.

Ability to work independently.

Education and Experience

 High School Diploma or GED

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions   

Ability to operate equipment necessary to complete the essential functions of the position. 

Ability to move hands in repetitive motions including grasping, holding and finger dexterity.

Ability to display eye-hand coordination.

Ability to climb stairs, step stools and ladders.

Must be able to carry and use a ladder for climbing.

Ability to push/pull and reach.

Ability to carry equipment necessary to complete the essential functions of the position.

Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying objects (up to 60 lbs.).

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors where there may be physical discomforts associated with noise, dust, chemicals, fumes, dirt, and the like; frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, bending, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.

Work is performed on a daily basis to include a lot of walking, bending, stooping and lifting 10-15 pounds.  Must be able to complete all work on a daily basis and complete special projects as needed. May work in dirty areas from time to time.

There may be times when work is performed outdoors, at night, or in the dark where there may be physical discomforts associated with extreme temperatures or low levels of light.
