Job Description
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Bale and Warehouse Worker in the Charleston WV Area Command Wyoming Warehouse, within the Potomac Division.
Position Summary
Operates a bailer machine to secure, package and bind large volumes of clothing. Loads and unloads trucks performing lifting of heavy objects on a regular basis. Assists in maintaining the neatness and orderliness of the warehouse area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
No formal education or experience required although some experience operating heavy equipment and performing heavy lifting is preferred.
License and Certification
None.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to operate a forklift.
Mental and Physical Abilities
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to communicate the English language. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment frequently. Ability to lift heavy (50-100 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment occasionally. Work requires continued walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
