The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of people…a Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive.

Much has changed since that time.  Today the Sycuan Tribe governs its Reservation, owns and operates a Casino and a Golf Resort, and owns a number of other business ventures in the San Diego Region.

Director of Club Sycuan Job Purpose:

Oversees Club Sycuan Department activities, grow casino database by developing and driving enrollment programs, works closely in supporting the Promotions & Special Events department to execute successful promotions and special events, provides guest service and support to team members while ensuring the Casino brand is represented effectively

Director of Club Sycuan Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains efficiency of Club Sycuan operations by assigning duties to Club Sycuan Shift Managers, monitoring staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage, communicating pertinent departmental and Casino information to shift managers, monitoring staff activities and providing guidance and instruction as needed, and monitoring activities for internal and external marketing events and department promotions. Understanding of promotional & special event rules, regulations and procedures and ability to gain approval from Gaming Commission when applicable. Develops and maintains training programs for staff as well as communication tools to educate staff and supporting departments related to all pertinent programs that will impact these areas.  Pursues opportunities to partner with other casinos and or organizations to grow casino revenue through loyalty programs.  Manage associated operating costs to meet departmental goals 
  • Develops guest service standards by identifying and defining service sequences, mapping out steps to enhance the guest experience, communicating and consistently updating service standards to team member population, following up and ensuring consistency in service sequences, evaluating and identifying service steps that need improvement, and communicating changes to team member population as needed.
  • Ensures brand message consistency throughout the Casino by collaborating with the Marketing staff to ensure a clear consistent message across departments, ensuring that brand message is communicated and available to all departments, and implementing new and/or improved casino products and services.
  • Identifies and promotes continuous improvement of Sycuan guest services by evaluating existing services, policies and procedures, providing recommendations for improvements to the SVP Marketing & Advertising, and on-going constructive feedback to the appropriate Department Heads.
  • Develops Club Sycuan staff by monitoring the training of team members, identifying other training needs, providing direct and consistent instruction and guidance on policy and procedure application and service delivery, preparing, reviewing and conducting performance appraisals, and providing counseling, guidance and corrective action as needed.
  • Hires qualified candidates by reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, and selecting final candidates.

Director of Club Sycuan Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing or equivalent experience
  • 7 years guest service or hospitably experience
  • 5 years supervisory experience


  • Player Development experience
  • Tribal Casino management experience
  • Proficient in Excel


Skills and Knowledge:


  • Working knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures applicable to all casino games
  • Working knowledge of promotional & special event rules, regulations and procedures and ability to gain approval, when applicable, from Gaming Commission
  • Ability to analyze player data and make sound business recommendations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Ability to develop and implement guest service improvement plans and strategies as it relates to the Sycuan brand
  • Ability present complex concepts in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure
  • Ability to interact effectively with team members, guests, and business clientele
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to prioritize, delegate, and monitor multiple tasks and assignments
  • Ability to provide guidance to staff members
  • Working knowledge of database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications
  • Record keeping and organizational skills

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends and holidays


  • Player tracking software experience
  • Multi-lingual
