Electrician Maintenance (Journeyman) Lead

Under general supervision, works in testing, calibration, modification, maintenance, repair and servicing of electrical and fire life safety infrastructure and facility support equipment. Installs electrical devices, wiring, and systems. Monitors and maintains safe operating condition of all electrical systems and related equipment. This job class requires knowledge of federal and state codes, laws and regulations regarding electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance.
 
Job Responsibilities

Complies with National Electrical Code and company standards when wiring equipment, following all applicable safety policies and codes.
Works standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring and electrical equipment.
Uses a variety of electrician's power and hand tools, measuring and testing instruments.
Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Installs, maintains, and operates electrical systems, equipment, and appliances, such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, actuators, pumps, grounding systems, lightning protection systems, roll-up doors, low voltage (below 600 VAC) electric gate crossings, signals, switches, and or other equipment.
Locates and diagnoses problems in the electrical system or equipment.
Records and reports inspections, repairs performed, and equipment replaced.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Physical Environment & Demands
 
Work location in an office/shop environment and on job sites, in a construction environment with various tools and construction equipment.
Work involves use of computers, diagnostic equipment, craft tools, and personal protective equipment as required.
Work may require the following:  sitting, standing, bending, reaching, moving about within the facility, squatting, and stretching.

Education   
 
High school diploma, GED, or trade school coursework preferred.

License
 
Valid driver’s license required for this position at most locations.  
Must maintain an acceptable driving record while in this position. 
Journeyman license required for electrician positions.
 
Experience

Journeyman with four years of demonstrated experience as an electrician.
Knowledge of NEC and electrical/wiring principles; building codes, local, state, and federal regulations on electrical and fire life safety installation, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to develop, read, understand, and interpret schematics and blueprints and to do standard computations.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests; and to escalate the more difficult matters appropriately in English. Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time and adapt to changing work priorities.
Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance, to work independently and as a team, and to build effective working relationships.
Ability to manage material resources, changing priorities, workflow, multiple projects, and deadlines.
Ability to work safely and understand all safety requirements and company policy. Ability to travel to various facilities.
Ability of reading and interpreting schematics and technical specifications. Ability to work under great health risk.
Good logical sense, critical thinker, and problem solver.
High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required.
High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to others when responsible for flow of electrical power.
Ability to read and write reports.
