Coating Production Operator - 3rd Shift

Looking for night shift production operator in our Bristol, TN facility who will be responsible for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the Coating Line in order to produce excellent quality industrial fabrics that meet or exceed customer requirements.  Provides leadership to team members and is accountable for line operation. 
  • Promote safety and safety awareness by wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, properly handling of tools and equipment, and following posted safety and security procedures. 
  • Direct the activities of the coating line to obtain the required quality and quantity of products scheduled; must be a team player and encourage teamwork; relieve other line associates for breaks when necessary; provide training and coaching to less experienced associates in production-related procedures to build associate knowledge and skills.
  • Observe process to ensure weights are set correctly on the coater head, material is guiding correctly, trim widths are set, and make other necessary adjustments to meet quality and productivity standards.
  • Monitor coated fabrics for defects (i.e. miscoated edges, streaks, pick-off.) and initiate corrective action as necessary; alert personnel to product defects, equipment operation, and safety hazards by observing product and personnel operations; monitor and eliminate fabric that is not suitable for processing using utility knife/scissors. 
  • Alert Supervisor promptly of unresolved problems; diagnose malfunctions by examining material, measurements, machine print-outs, gauges, and computer screens; alert Supervisor and Maintenance when machine or equipment malfunctions occur.
  • Must effectively utilize computer screens to monitor and adjust temperature, feed rate, speed, tension, weight in PSI, yardage, set up compound application, and parameters; monitor bank compound placement on rollers for proper coating of material; adjust weight according to Beta Gauge; use Beta Gauge computer screen to determine and make necessary adjustments in compound application; use hand-held heat scanner to verify compound temperature meets specs.
  • Promote Lean Sigma Initiative by actively participating in Kaizen events and ensure 5S is completed according to schedule, keeping work area clean and organized.

HS Diploma/GED required
Production Machine Operating experience preferred
Some computer skills preferred
