Direct Support Professional (DSP) Personal Supports- Carrol County

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal home.

Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care. Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms.

Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping.

Paid trainings, including CPR/First Aid

DSP’s assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by:

• Assisting with participation and exploration of the community

• Cultivating and expanding independent living skills

• Assisting with development of meaningful and personal relationships

• Implementing strategies to achieve individuals’ personal goals

Eligible candidates must have a high school degree/GED and a current driver’s license with less than three points on their driving record. (remove if not applicable)

The hours for this position:  Fridays 2p-10p needed, would also like every other Saturday & Sunday 9a-10p (start and end times flexible) if possible. 
 
I am a woman who lives in the Westminster area of Carroll County. I need assistance with my personal care, getting ready for the day, meals, meeting new people, activities at home and in the community. I use a motorized wheelchair and will need some help transferring. I have my own wheelchair accessible van that my family will help you learn how to use.  I have a great sense of humor but sometimes feel frustrated with my situation. A staff person that would work well with me is patient, funny, outgoing, and willing to help me enjoy my life. I would like someone who will encourage me to try new things by making suggestions and doing new activities with me. I have a young and vibrant spirit and I would really love to have more of a social life. I would like to get back to some activities I used to participate like Sunday morning church and Saturday night social groups. I like country music, watching movies, playing games, and coffee! This position requires the use of personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation.
