Direct Support Professional (DSP)- Support Services, Baltimore

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to an individual with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Personal Support Services professionals assist individuals and families living in their personal home.

Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care. Whether living alone or with family members, individually tailored services are the best way to support people on their own terms.

Services provided are personalized and directed by the individual receiving supports and may include but are not limited to: assistance with personal hygiene, activities/outings, social engagement, and shopping.

Paid trainings, including CPR/First Aid

DSP’s assist with creating opportunities for individuals to live full and productive lives by:

·Assisting with participation and exploration of the community

·Cultivating and expanding independent living skills

·Assisting with development of meaningful and personal relationships

·Implementing strategies to achieve individuals’ personal goals

Eligible candidates must have a high school degree/GED and a current driver’s license with less than three points on their driving record.

The hours for this position: 40 hours/ week

Monday -Friday 9a-5p

I am a young man who needs support in the Baltimore area. I love to rap and would like to explore studios and opportunities related to music in my community. God is important to me, and it is important for me that I work with someone who respects my values and does not use foul language around me. Sometimes I struggle with my mood and need someone who can be patient with me while I work through what I am going through at the moment. I would love to explore my community and get to know more people while trying new activities. More than anything I want to find a true love, but I need to work on how to meet people and slowly enter a relationship. I want staff to help me work on these skills and to learn how to tell if someone is genuine or trying to take advantage of me. It would be great to work with someone who I could have “guy talk” with and who could give me some tips about women. The right staff for me will be kind, respectful, and help me to feel valued in my life.

Staff should be dependable and reliable.

This position requires the use of personal vehicles to provide transportation within the community.

This position requires the use of a personal cell phone for mobile punching and documentation.
