About this Opportunity:

Regency Centers is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Construction), to join the team in our Chicago, Illinois regional office (located in Oak Brook). This individual will oversee and manage design and construction activities throughout the pre-development and development process, and will have day-to-day, on-site responsibility to ensure construction meets time frames within the established budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in predevelopment for various projects, adding value through management of consultants, project budget, schedule, and evolution of design.
  • Work closely with the development team to assist with entitlement processes to ensure all necessary approvals are obtained in accordance with stated project goals.
  • Coordinate project design and technical details such as structural and MEP using the designs of our JV partners, anchor tenants, and our internal Operations group.
  • Work with the team to develop budgets for use in project pro formas and in support of our leasing, development and redevelopment pursuits, and effectively manage same.
  • Negotiate/administer all contracts with general contractor and design consultants, and manage architectural/engineering design consultants to ensure project delivery is achieved on time and within budget.
  • Review and process all contractor and consultant change orders and invoices.
  • Prepare, track and manage document submittal/review, permitting and design schedules, and overall project construction schedule.
  • Prepare quarterly cost projection reports of actual project costs and schedules to ensure compliance with approved budget and timeline.
  • Act as project liaison with governing public agencies, permitting authorities and serving utilities.
  • Work with and assist internal departments (e.g. Property Management, Leasing, Finance, and Accounting) to review tenant construction plans, coordinate with and execute projects and deliver spaces to tenants.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field from an accredited institution
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant commercial construction management experience, including supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of commercial construction, design, entitlement, and site development
  • Skilled in comprehending architectural/engineering drawings and complex legal documents and able to review documents for conformity to Regency or tenants’ standards
  • Skill in analyzing construction costs to meet pro forma objectives and recommend budgetary and design adjustments as appropriate
  • Intermediate or higher level proficiency with personal computers and software such as: Microsoft Office (such as Word, Excel and Project - must be able to redline documents in Word and create schedules in Project based on anticipated timelines and workflow dependencies), Workflow management software (such as Blue Beam Revu), accounting systems (e.g. JD Edwards) and Zoom or similar video conferencing software
  • Must be available to travel frequently within the region and work varying & flexible hours (including evening hours as needed to attend Planning & Zoning Commission or City Council meetings)


  • Experience in construction management for retail projects, ideally grocery anchored product development
  • Experience working for an architectural or engineering firm, construction company, or commercial developer
