About this Opportunity:
Regency Centers is seeking a Collections Manager to join our corporate office located in Jacksonville, FL. This person will manage, lead and motivate a collections team to ensure all cash receipts are appropriately applied to tenant accounts and accounted for in the General Ledger. Perform AR reporting and uncollectible lease income analysis used to ensure the financial statements are accurately stated. Also, manage process consistency and standardization across all properties/tenants. Serve as the primary contact for assistance with collections and liaison on dispute resolution regarding significant tenant (high revenue tenants) billings and other tenant matters. Responsible for performing the day-to-day dispute resolution activities and communicating internally and externally regarding the status of significant tenant’s accounts.
•Work with Accounts Receivable (AR) team to coordinate timing of AR close and coordinate with Property Accounting Management team for entries needed prior to starting our monthly AR analysis (Total Tenant Reserve file)
•Prepare the monthly AR and dispute files to facilitate the review of AR for collectability and report material disputes to SVP of Operations.
•Prepare required entries to record uncollectible lease income.
•Maintain SOX documentation for all controls performed related to the review and recording of uncollectible lease income.
•Review various CAT Codes used to identify cash basis tenants and other attributes used in reporting; coordinate updates/changes with management and IT.
•Manage all day-to-day activities of the Collections team to ensure all assigned activities are completed on time and accurately.
•Manage process consistency and standardization across all properties/tenants.
•Review monthly reporting to Managing Director, Property Operations regarding tenant status and collection efforts for delinquent tenants including recommendations for tenant default
•Oversee the hiring and training process for all Collections staff.
•Develop and implement training procedures manual for any new departmental employees.
•Review and analyze performance to identify individual and departmental deficiencies or improvement opportunities.
•Participate in special projects such as technology improvements with a focus on automating our reserve process for cash basis tenants and improving our transparency on Significant Tenant AR reporting.
•Bachelor’s degree with preference in accounting, finance or business related field or equivalent work experience in a related field
•5-7 years of previous collections and dispute resolution experience required
•3+ years of business project management and/or supervisory experience required
•Experience reading commercial real estate leases preferred
•Prior experience developing and implementing training procedures preferred
•Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
•Advanced knowledge JD Edwards or other financial reporting software preferred
•Advanced level proficiency with GL Inquiry, Hubble or similar applications
•Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
•Ability to communicate with precise language complex information reports including explanatory narrative/interpretation of financial results.
