Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver materials from the pigment storage areas to each production line and to transport finished products from the production lines to the holding area adjacent to the green desk.

 

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.   

  • Operates fork lift safely and efficiently; conduct forklift inspection at the beginning of every shift.
  • Maintain a safe work environment; observe all OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean workspace.
  • Stage materials according to the pick ticket to the proper production lines,  noting any lot numbers designated on the pick ticket.
  • Verify all material code numbers, adhering to FIFO guidelines, on all material deliveries to production lines.
  • Respond promptly to Machine Operator’s request (light system) for pick-up of completed production pallets/boxes, deliver to the staging/finishing area and processed according to Work Instruction number PACK-001-02.
  • After finished product is properly processed and completed, material handler will stage the material at the designated bin on the shipping dock.           
  • Upon completion of a product run, return materials back to the proper storage location.
  • Assist the Machine Operator in cleaning the production equipment according to Work Instruction PACK-001-04.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  1. Ability to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions, short correspondence and memos. 
  2. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  4. Ability to understand metric weighting system. 
  5. Ability to round to the nearest whole number.
  6. Ability to comprehend written or oral instructions. 
  7. Ability to deal with multiple problems (adapting to changes) while managing time, involving several variables throughout  various stages of the manufacturing process.

 

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

  1. Education:
    1. High school diploma or GED
    2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in similar title and scope of responsibility.
  2. Licenses / Certifications:
    1. Forklift certification

 

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience.

 

  • This job primarily operates in a warehouse setting and must be able to work in varying temperatures, depending upon season
  • Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.

  4. Potential lifting of up to 75 pounds
  5. Use of basic warehouse equipment and hand tools
  6. Ability to differentiate colors, depth and perception
