Laundry Attendant, Heavy
 

Primary Responsibilities:   Responsible for preparing daily laundry loads utilizing the CBW wash system.  Load and unload linens from carts/bins to the conveyor.  Responsible for changing laundry chemicals.  Monitor and log laundry loads to insure the right chemicals and temperature is being used and that production is maintained.  Must be able to perform duties of the laundry attendants.

 

Essential Duties:

  1. Prepare, load and operate CBW wash system.
  2. Unload washer and dryer.
  3. Sort and spot treat clothing and linen.
  4. Change laundry chemicals.
  5. Read care labels to properly treat and clean clothing, uniforms and linen.
  6. Transport laundry in carts or bins to different areas of the laundry facility.
  7. Proper storage of chemicals.
  8. Report any problems with equipment; keep equipment clean.
  9. Follow safety procedures and policies in the proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
  10. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  11. Keep log of laundry loads.
  12. Perform duties in a timely manner.
  13. Perform duties of lower rated laundry personnel.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  1. Empty trash cans in work area, refill water jugs.
  2. Assist other positions in the department.
  3. Clean laundry bins.
  4. Open new linen.

Working Conditions: 

  1. Works in an air-conditioned laundry facility.
  2. Noise from washer, dryer and other equipment; lint and dust.
  3. May work around hot equipment such as pressers, dryers and iron.

Work Hours:

  1. Able to work shift and days determined by Manager
  2. Able to work more than 40 hours in a week when needed.

Equipment Use:

  1. Telephone.
  2. CBW washer, washer, dryer, air hose, floor squeegee, folding machine, laundry carousel.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  1. Able to prioritize and organize workload.
  2. Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  3. Push/pull laundry carts weighing over 50 lbs.
  4. Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  5. Bend, stoop, reach to load and unload laundry

Communication Demands:

  1. Able to communicate verbally to employees, managers and guests/clients.
  2. Able to communicate over the phone.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. Must be able to count and read instructions on operating equipment, using detergent, labels on items being laundered.
