Polynesian Adventures Tours, LLC is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic/Technician to inspect, service, and repair the Company’s fleet of vehicles in Lihue, Hawaii. This position diagnoses problems quickly, replaces or repairs faulty parts, performs routine maintenance, and restores vehicles to their precise factory specifications.

Wages: 

  • Starting at $28 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • The qualified candidate will have a high school degree or equivalent.

  • Certification or licensure as a heavy-duty mechanic by a U.S. State or Canadian Province governmental agency.

  • Sixty (60) months of work experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, diesel mechanic, or a related position. 

  • Alternatively, an associate’s degree, vocational or technical school certification in heavy-duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, or a related field will be accepted in lieu of certification or licensure as a heavy-duty mechanic. 

  • Must be able to attain a CDL license. We train and assist with this.
  • Must have successfully completed a U.S. Federal or U.S. State-sponsored training program OR have a certificate from a U.S. State or Canadian Province that qualifies the candidate to perform commercial motor vehicle safety inspections. 

  • Must have skills in advanced fuel injection and diesel engine tune-ups, vehicle air conditioning systems, and charging and cranking systems as gained through specific training or coursework or at least twelve (12) months of relevant work experience.

Daily Tasks:

  • Perform all levels of maintenance and proficiency in servicing, inspections, diagnosing, and repair of motor coach bus or medium-duty mini-bus diesel and gasoline-operated vehicles.

  • Perform inspections in compliance with Federal and State regulations.

  • Perform inspections in accordance with Poly Ad Maintenance Program.

  • Provides a weekly progress report to the Fleet Manager.

  • Execute preventive maintenance schedules to ensure regular servicing and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment.

  • Orders parts, materials, and supplies for the department as needed.

  • Must be able to read and understand schematic and pneumatic drawings for

  • electric vehicles and hydraulics.

  • Supervise mechanic helper and wash crew.
