Under the supervision of the Security Coordinator, will be responsible for monitoring, patrolling and enforcing security protocols at assigned PWSA facilities including the Water Treatment Plant and ancillary facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist with traffic operations at PWSA facilities to control the flow of traffic
● Comply with all legal requirements
● Other related duties as assigned or required 
● Enforce regulations designed to prevent breaches of security; exercise judgment and use discretion in deciding first response tactics
● Perform routine checks of offices, laboratories, corridors, parking lots, storage sites, and other such locations, as appropriate for each round
● Perform all necessary services to ensure the safety and protection of facility personnel and property against injury, loss, or damage from preventable causes, including, but not limited to, fire, trespass, civil disturbance, theft, espionage, acts of terrorism and sabotage
● Turn off unnecessary lights; close windows; open, close, and secure doors; and check vaults, cabinets and security doors, if applicable
● Accountable for visitor management at assigned PWSA facilities; verification of visitors’ identification and assignment of visitor badges; screening suspicious visitors, solicitors, and escorting banned visitors from PWSA property  
● Prepare reports using PGH2O provided or approved forms or electronic media as required and identified in the Post Orders for all incidents
● Provide and maintain a high level of security in and around the buildings, and as necessary, assist in emergency management situations, acts of terrorism, bomb threats, internal disorder, civilian demonstrations, or other criminal acts which adversely affect employee security and/or safety, property, and the general public lawfully in the building or on the grounds
● Comply with established procedures, as outlined in Post Orders, pertaining to lost and found articles
● Conduct rover foot patrols, both interior and exterior, as well as motorized patrol (in PGH2O provided patrol vehicles); respond to fire, intrusion, and other alarms; answer service calls and document all reports of crime, security violations, or incidents; provide emergency first aid and escorts; assist with emergency evacuations; and manage vehicle check points and conduct inspections

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
● Considerable knowledge of large-scale security policies and procedures
● Working knowledge of security best practices and local law
● Ability to follow protocol and procedures
● Basic technology skills including security systems, surveillance systems, and Microsoft Office
● Sound judgement, decision making and problem-solving skills 
● Good communication skills, ethical, and reliable
● Ability to work with employees, contractors, and vendors at all levels
● Ability to maintain CPR/First Aid certification - training provided by PWSA upon hire   

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.
● High School Diploma, or diploma from an accredited vocational school, or General Educational Development (GED) certificate or equivalent.
● Two (2) years of experience working in the security field preferred or a background in law enforcement or Armed forces preferred.
● ACT 235 Certificaton (with or without firearms)

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must present a current, valid Class C (Class 1) Motor Vehicle Operator’s License at the time of application or prior to appointment.  A valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.

Applicant must have permanent residency in Allegheny County at time of appointment and remain a permanent resident throughout employment with the PWSA. Verification of Allegheny County residence is required at time of filling application.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED / RECEIVED
No direct reports / Receives supervision directly from the Security Coordinator. The employee is expected to be able to work with little to no supervision at times and adhere to all reporting requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to operate a pickup truck and related equipment as needed.  The employee must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, and work in loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire and explosive risks.

CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a loud or moderate noise level within the work environment. May perform work outdoors under extreme weather. The employee may be exposed to confined, high spaces, like erect scaffolding; loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks; and odors, dusts, fumes, mists, poor ventilation, and gases which may require a respirator. 

Availability to work all three shifts (7:00am - 3:00pm, 3:00pm - 11:00pm, 11:00pm - 7:00am), as well as weekends, and holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours and/or recalled during emergency situations or other extensive periods.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority's examining physician.

DRUG TESTING
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and for reasonable suspicion.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check, verification of prior employment and performance, reference and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
