Accounting - Manufacturing Regional Controller

Job Summary

This position assures that the Georgia Region accounting records and processes are maintained in accordance with GAAP, facilitation of SOX compliance, and ensures all company accounting procedures are followed. The position partners with and supports the location’s Plant Manager by providing cost analysis and KPI reporting used to assist in daily operational direction and planning for the facility.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Provide accounting oversight relative to the Georgia Region; review plant procedures and direct accounting process improvements as necessary.
  • Supervision of the local Accounting team.
  • Prepares monthly account reconciliations of all asset and liability accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist with the resolution of external and internal audits.
  • Review, update and publish procedures for SOX compliance and ensure adequate internal controls are in place and being followed.
  • Directs the monthly close process, meeting all close-time guidelines while ensuring accurate representation of all plant financial records.
  • Prepare, review, and distribute company reports as required.
  • Reviews, completes and approves all tax returns prepared at the location.
  • Maintains capital expenditure records, prepares monthly reports, and closes projects in accordance with GAAP, as monitored by the Corporate Accounting team.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • BBA or BA in Accounting required; 5-8 years’ experience with all accounting functions.  Minimum 3 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity, Experience in a manufacturing environment desired.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and demonstrated investigative and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and inventory control processes, budgeting and MS Office software, and ERP systems (JD Edwards experience desired)

 

 

Physical Demands

    • Must be able to walk throughout the processing, packaging, warehouse, and supply areas for monthly inventory. Not uncommon to sit for long periods.
    • Work with a computer the entire day.
    • Safety PPE is required when working during inventory and walk-through includes steel toed shoes and cloves, earplugs and/or respiratory masks.
