Saint Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments is seeking an instructional assistant for the 2022-2023 school year.

Duties:

  • Assists the Teacher of the Visually Impaired in teaching a variety of skills to students who are visually impaired.
  • Works directly with students individually and/or in groups under the direction of the teacher. 
  • Prepares materials and equipment to be used by the students in the classroom. 
  • Follows through on teacher’s lesson plans, classroom routine, assigned tasks, and directions from therapists. 
  • Provides assistance to the classroom teacher in daily routines with students.
  • Be flexible to assist school wide when there is a need.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must have a high school diploma.  Some college education preferred.
  • Must have current PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance Check, Federal Criminal Background Check, Attend Safe Environment training and attend Mandated Reporter Training.

 

Necessary Abilities: 

  • Genuine interest to work with children with disabilities. 
  • Ability to follow directions and adapt to new and/or unique situations. 
  • Ability to establish rapport and appropriate relationships with students and their families. 
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

 

This is a part time, 10-month position with benefits.
