REPORTS TO: Director of Technology Commercialization
THE VALUE YOU DELIVER:
- Collaborate with the Director of Technology Commercialization and key Oceanit leaders to drive key technology commercialization priorities at Oceanit in an agile team environment; lead small project-based software teams.
- Build rapid prototypes to demonstrate to prospective customers and generate excitement and get user feedback.
- Work with the team to identify and evaluate promising technologies being developed at Oceanit; take responsibility for assigned technical software deliverables.
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers at Oceanit to understand the new technology being developed, the potential commercial opportunities, and encourage technical progress towards relevant opportunities.
- Develop new business plans, marketing collateral, and go-to-market strategies for identified technologies.
- Identify and source early customers to test technology with.
- User test with customers and communicate feedback to the technical team.
- Identify and source new commercial co-development partners who might be interested in licensing specific Oceanit technologies.
- Design, modify, develop, debug, and test software using C++, Python, or other programming languages under Linux, Windows, or other operating systems.
- Use standard tools for configuration management, issue tracking, etc.
- Troubleshoot, test, and analyze problems and determine solutions.
The Expertise We’re Looking For:
- Ability to work in a fast paced “startup environment” with limited resources.
- Technical background or experience and skills to be able to build prototypes.
- Entrepreneurial self-starter with the ability to work with little guidance. Each project is like doing a mini startup so the candidate needs to be able to take an idea and run with it.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to a wide range of audiences (users, customers, business leaders, government, etc.).
- Comfortable with ambiguity, able to take initiative when path is not clear and work on multiple work streams simultaneously.
- Excellent analytical capabilities, bringing rigor to problem solving.
- Ability to work cross functionally in a positive and team-oriented way whether as a project lead or as a contributor.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of work experience
- Technical ability and skills to build prototypes
- B.S., M.S., or PhD in engineering, science or equivalent technical field
- Startup, consulting, and/or strategy/business development experience
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of time (domestically and internationally).
