IT Network and Telecommunications Manager (Hybrid)

The IT Network & Telecommunications Manager will be responsible for strategic direction and daily operations of NJR’s network (WAN/LAN) and telecommunication platforms.
Major Responsibilities:
• Direct and manage daily operations of the network and telco support team
• Lead network and telco related projects
• Evaluate current network and telecommunications platforms to develop an enterprise network and telco architecture strategy to support our growth focused on scalability, performance and availability
• Escalation for network and telco related issues at locations
• Lead change management process and implementation of network (WAN/LAN), telco, firewall and router changes to environment
• Drive root cause analysis on networking and telco related issues and provide plans for remediation
• Lead technical evaluation of new technologies and tools
• Help manage and work with Network and Telco vendors and suppliers; work with procurement, legal and IT peers on contract negotiations and renewals
• Ensure all Network and Telco platforms are fully redundant with back up line capability
• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot network switches, routers, appliances, telco, satellite, cable, and voice mail/IVR systems
• Manage workflow of network and telecommunication projects
• Manage the Network & Telco support staff including performance evaluations, promotions, mentoring and hiring
• Responsible for continuous improvement; assess, modify and provide reporting of Key Performance Indicators for Network & Telco platforms
• Ensure the Network and telco staff are meeting established service level agreements
• Perform root-cause analysis on IT and end-user support issues; evaluating documented resolutions, analyzing trends and developing appropriate technical or training solutions to prevent future problems
• Troubleshoot problems and network issues; recommend network/telco and infrastructure enhancements based on new industry developments and business needs
Position Specification:
• Minimum 6 to 10 years of experience as Network and Telecommunications manager
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Technical Certification
• Deep understanding of network and telecommunication designs and topologies
• Experience in troubleshooting network connectivity issues
• Experience managing and implementing PBX, VoIP and cloud phone systems
• Experience with Cisco firewalls, routes, and switches product lines
• Experience with Customer Service Rep call centers with IVR systems
• Experience with network and security technologies such as intrusion prevention technologies, proxy, VPN and remote access technologies
• Good understanding of information security and best practices
• Network professional certifications a plus (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
• Experience with Avaya phone systems and SIP Trucking a plus
• Experience in the utility industry a plus
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Valid Driver’s license as travel will be required from time to time based on the needs of the business
This position is hybrid, 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
