Be part of our team using cutting edge technology to help locate and rescue children from child sexual exploitation and reduce survivor victimization across the world. This internship position will provide a unique and broad experience supporting the development of various technological services that make the world a safer place for children everywhere.


  • Position involves working closely with Product teams and includes daily contact with Technology Division, internal business stakeholders, management, and others on sensitive and complex issues requiring courtesy, discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Assist with regular testing of ECD applications including NCMEC’s CyberTipline, various web forms, API’s, and other proprietary software.
  • Create detailed user stories and bugs reflecting user experiences and needs while working closely with Product Owners.
  • Involved in meetings with business stakeholders to understand user needs, gather feature requirements, and business process reengineering.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation on workflows, business processes and testing plans.
  • Conform with and abide by all instructions, policies, regulations, and work procedures.
  • Attend various on-site training seminars and presentations.
  • Other duties, as assigned.


  • Have or working towards a Bachelor’s degree or certification related to Information Systems, Business Information Technology, Product or Project Management or a related field.
  • Minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4 -point scale.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Agile principles and concepts.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities with the ability to multi-task.
  • Undergo initial and periodic background checks.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a team or in an individual capacity.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the integrity and confidentiality of highly sensitive material and information.


This internship position will entail limited exposure to child pornography and other graphic content, including but not limited to, images, videos, chat logs, and graphic descriptions of sexual abuse. Per 18 U.S.C. 2256, child pornography is defined as a visual depiction of a minor under the age of 18 engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Due to this exposure, the internship candidate will meet with a member of the Family Advocacy Division prior to selection and will be required to attend Safeguard sessions on a regular basis. This internship also requires participation in group Safeguard sessions.


Although internships are unpaid positions, each intern will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and hands-on experience and will receive academic credit through an approved program at his/her college. 


The Technology Product Associate will be required to work from NCMEC Headquarters or a Rochester branch location a minimum of 20 hours per week, between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, during Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters. Interns will be excused to attend internship program functions and for academic holidays or vacations.
