ABOUT THIS POSITION:
The Sr Actuarial Analyst produces standard and non-standard actuarial analyses and makes major contributions to projects for NCCI’s actuarial products and services, such as rate filings, legislative cost analyses, reserving, and research.
WHAT WILL YOU DO IN THIS POSITION:
Complete standard and non-standard actuarial analyses for rate filings, legislative cost analyses, reserving, data validation, products, and/or research. This includes utilizing actuarial systems and programming skills to access and organize the data, performing the applicable actuarial calculations, analyzing complex information, assessing the reasonability of results and drawing conclusions, updating exhibits and slides, and completing documentation.
Perform as a major contributor on special projects. This may involve more advanced actuarial analyses, development of system specifications, complex programming and data analysis, development of new processes, and development and delivery of presentations.
Provide independent quality review of the work of others.
Provide subject matter expertise.
Sit for and pass actuarial exams.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING TO THE ROLE:
• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of actuarial experience
• A minimum of four (4) CAS-accredited actuarial exams
On a limited basis, candidates may qualify with the following qualities:
• Demonstrated ability to perform Senior Actuarial Analyst work
• Significant subject matter expertise in the focus area
• Experience in multiple focus areas
• Demonstrated ability to train or mentor others in the focus area
• Quality reviewer in the focus area
Additional knowledge, skills and Abilities:
• In-depth technical expertise in one or more actuarial areas
• Advanced data analysis skills
• Good knowledge of computer tools and systems that can be used for actuarial analyses
• Independent, critical thinking
• Strong analytical skills
• Good project management skills
• Ability to deliver high volume, high quality work, and meet deadlines
• Good teaming and collaboration skills
• General knowledge of the uses of NCCI products and services
• Ability to conduct training in areas of expertise
• Ability to provide constructive feedback to team members
• Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
• Ability to deliver presentations to small groups
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A MORE VIABLE CANDIDATE:
• Strong working knowledge of one or more of NCCI's actuarial systems and familiarity with other NCCI systems used in actuarial work
• Continued exam progress
