Job Summary
Under the general supervision of a Program Coordinator or Recreation Specialist or Recreation Leader II, the Recreation Leader I will lead and monitor summer programs and recreational activities.  This is a seasonal position. Must be available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays and help in other divisions as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the safety and well-being of program participants
• Leads and monitors recreation programs, activities at after school sites, summer camp sites, recreation centers, rental facilities, and events for participants, preschool through adults
• Opens, closes, and performs facility attendant duties for recreation centers and rental facilities
• Cleans equipment and facilities
• Provides support at special events and department programs
• Performs daily tasks to include cleaning, answering phones, and general office related tasks
• Maintains essential records, prepares reports as required; to include but not limited to participation reports, usage reports, accident reports, and work orders
• Ensures membership guidelines and procedures are followed
• Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
• Performs other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of two (2) years of high school or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• One (1) year experience in related field
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
