Transportation Highway Maintenance Supervisor
Annual Salary Range: $65,624.00 - $78,374.40

JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Highway Maintenance Director in managing the daily activities of the administrative side of the Highway Maintenance Division. To take on special projects including GIS initiatives in accordance with the current needs of the Highway Maintenance Division and lead year-round recruitment & hiring efforts in order to meet the needs of our traveling public.
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform special projects at the direction of the Highway Maintenance Manager and Director of Transportation. This would include such things as optimizing snow plowing routes for winter operations for County, State and Interstate systems. Using statistical analysis GIS in coordination with CityWorks to determine road maintenance hot spots and optimal staffing levels for each crew.
- Assist the Highway Maintenance Manager with personnel and maintenance related issues, including representing the division at meetings in the HWY Manager’s absence. Act as the Division Liaison for HR related issues. This includes, interviewing, hiring, coordination of the promotion process and testing for Highway Maintenance Workers, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions for the division. Provides administrative support for the Divisions 9 Supervisors.
- Coordinate the Division’s Safety and Emergency Management activities. Coordinate in conjunction with the Safety Program Manager, all the Highway Maintenance Division’s safety and emergency management training and activities. Representing the Division at the Joint Safety Committee and Safety attack meetings, LMS Administrator for the Highway Maintenance Division, and updating the Division’s COOP plan.
- Maintaining records, reports, development of standard operating procedures for the Division and improvement of administrative functions for the Division. Maintenance of the division’s records, promotional reports, and OSHA regulated training. In conjunction with the Assistant Highway Manager, develop SOP’s for maintenance and administrative functions for the Division.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current State of Wisconsin resident.
- Possession of a high school diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent.
- Possession of a valid state of Wisconsin driver’s license at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Three (3) or more years of experience working in Highway Maintenance and/or Administrative Government field.
- At least one (1) year of supervisory experience training employees; Including developing materials, organizing employee orientations, as well as experience providing hands on/one-on-one guidance to individuals.
- Intermediate Knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
- The ability to lift/carry up to 50lbs and push/pull up to 150lbs on a regular basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of human resource processes and the administrative side of the division, versus the construction side. Ability to keep accurate records; Ability to schedule, supervise and evaluation of work as a “manager” of; ability to prioritize job tasks; ability to respond to emergencies; and the ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
